This unincorporated village is located 30 minutes from Council Bluffs/Omaha metro area in Northern MIlls County, 9 miles Northeast of Glenwood with a population reported in the 2020 Census of 154.

This community is well known for its connection to the Wabash Trace Trail, Toby Jack’s Steakhouse and the Thursday Taco Ride (on the trail).

The Wabash Trace Nature Trail is a former railroad corridor that has been converted to a multi-purpose trail with a limestone surface. The trail is a total of 63 miles long, with 25 miles of the trail being in Mills County. This creates approximately 300 acres of linear park within Mills County that is open year round to bicycling, walking / running, cross country skiing and nature viewing. Motorized vehicles, including ATV’s, are not permitted on the Trace.

A new Wabash Trace campground has been established in 2025 to help promote trail tourism as the town hosts several trail related events during the riding (warmer) seasons.

Other accommodations and attractions in the area include Lake Ohana Market, Cabins (Airbnb) and Back Room Lounge (address is Glenwood, but much closer to Mineola). This business located on Barrus Road 3 miles West of Mineola is locally owned and operated. Ohana is the Hawaiian word for family.

Bella Terre is also located West of Mineola on Barrus Road.Β  This beautiful Tuscan-style villa is surrounded by 8 acres of flourishing grapevines. It is a venue that can host and accommodate many different types of events for the public.
